Following on from our successful Middle Leadership course, we launched a pilot course for Aspiring and Newly appointed School Leaders in July 2008 and we will be repeating this again in March 2009.
This course runs over two days and focuses on the application process for Leadership positions. Applicants will be invited to apply for a “job” by submitting a letter of application and a CV and then will be invited to attend a two day interview. During the two days (which will be run as similar to a proper interview as possible), candidates will take part in group exercises, group interviews, deliver a presentation and take part in a final interview with a panel of interviewers including a Chair of governors and a Head.
Parts of the two days will be videoed and candidates will be given a copy of the DVD for self-evaluation purposes. Feedback will be given to applicants on a 1:1 basis, including feedback on the letter and CV submitted.
Candidates will be encouraged to reflect on the two day process and to determine their own learning and development points. The opportunity to access coaching following this process will also be offered.
